Blue Chamomile Essential Oil
This beautiful, ink-colored Blue Chamomile Essential Oil is also known as “German Chamomile Essential Oil.” Ours is steam distilled from eco-cultivated Chamomile blossoms grown in the Bulgarian countryside. It has an intense, penetrating, earthy fragrance. Blue Chamomile is an anciently known herb with several scientific names, including Matricaria recutita, Matricaria chamomilla, and Chamomilla recutita. Blue Chamomile is closely related to another type of Chamomile, known as Roman Chamomile (Chamaelmelum nobile); the two have similar, but not identical, properties and notably different aromas, with Roman Chamomile having a sweeter, less penetrating scent.
Blue Chamomile Essential Oil has been described by aromatherapists as quelling inflammation and promoting healing and it’s a favorite oil for skin problems such as dry, red, irritated skin and flaky skin. Some aromatherapists will add a small amount of Blue Chamomile Essential Oil to inhalations intended for inflamed respiratory tracts. While Blue chamomile has been described by aromatherapists as exerting a calming effect, it is said to be less calming than Roman chamomile.
