Artisan Aromatics – by and for aromatherapists

Essential oils for practitioners

Artisan Aromatics is, at heart, a small company that, despite its vigorous growth, maintains an “old-school” approach to quality and customer service and a strong commitment to the aromatherapy practitioners who we have served from the start and have helped us succeed and grow.

Ivan Prim - Owner - Artisan Aromatics

Ivan Prim, Owner

Our founder and current owner, Ivan Prim, has been in the essential oil business since 1993. He was one of the first people in the United States to begin importing therapeutic quality essential oils specifically for nurses and other healthcare professionals who were, at that time, just starting to study and practice aromatherapy in the US. Ivan’s first customers were among the early pioneers of aromatherapy here, and some of them have played important roles in establishing aromatherapy as a respected modality in mainstream healthcare settings.

Ivan was initially motivated to enter the essential oil business by his wife, Joie Power, Ph.D., a retired neuropsychologist who has gained international recognition for her expertise in the area of aromatherapy. Although Dr. Power stepped aside from the essential oil business in order to focus on providing aromatherapy education through The Aromatherapy School and the Highlands School of Natural Healing, she continues to serve as a consultant to Artisan Aromatics.

Over the last 20 years, we’ve seen aromatherapy grow from an almost unknown alternative modality employed by a few well-informed practitioners, into a multi-billion dollar industry in which fortunes are made by a few companies led by savvy entrepreneurs, not aromatherapists. We were founded on the mission to serve aromatherapy practitioners, and we have the knowledge and commitment to do so.

Each and every one of our customers is important to us. We have gotten to know many of you personally and have been honored to help you grow in your aromatherapy practice. We are grateful for your support and are always eager to help in any way we can.
