Blend Recipe: “Nosey” Lavender
I like to inhale this blend during cold and flu season.
- Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) – 10 drops
- Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) – 5 drops
- Thyme linalool (Thymus vulgaris CT Linalool) – 2 drops (Use this specific chemotype of Thyme as it is less likely to cause irritation.)
Use a pipette to blend the ingredients in a small glass bottle.
For a steam inhalation, add 2 drops of the blend to a bowl of steaming water after it has been removed from any heat source. Quickly cover your head and the bowl with a towel, close eyes and inhale for about 30 seconds. Repeat 2 or 3 times. Tip: it’s useful to have some tissues on hand if you’re clearing out congestion!
When going out, you can also put a couple of drops of this blend in an aromatherapy locket. A proper aromatherapy locket has a solid back so the essential oils don’t touch the skin.
Inhalations are more effective when you use 1 or 2 drops and then repeat the process than when you use more drops at once. This is because if the smell is too strong, it causes your nose to excrete more mucous as a protective response.
For adult use only.
